Students poke and probe for density analysis

Hands -on-Science is fun and entertaining!  In-person experiences are illuminating!

6th graders in Ms. Perfect's afternoon science enrichment were treated to an inquisitive, exploratory and inquiry-based series of observations with balloons frozen into mini-ice glaciers.

Students worked in teams to observe, touch and experiment with the round objects of ice.  They used toothpicks and paper clips to learn about density and conductivity.  They sprinkled sugar, salt and food coloring on them and analyzed the results after making predictions as to the effects of such phenomena would be on the ice structure.

All of our student groups discussed their predictions, observations and conclusions before writing them down on sticky-notes and adding these evidences to the collective class posters.  Thank you to all of our students for your earnest participation and to Ms. Perfect for her assiduous preparation and facilitation.
